The Great Planet Debate

The purpose of this conference is to discuss science as a process, using the ongoing debate about what should or should not be considered a planet as the framework for that discussion. Children and the broader general public have heartfelt interest in this subject, which presents a wonderful opportunity to reveal science as something much more than a list of facts to be memorized. It humanizes what scientists do in a way that allows non-scientists to easily relate.
